Family/Workforce Affordable Housing
The Ash Street Apartments provides an affordable housing option as part of the redevelopment of the old University of Colorado Health and Sciences Center in the vicinity of 9th and Colorado. The 26-acre redevelopment site sits approximately three miles southeast of Downtown Denver’s Central Business District and is adjacent to the Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Rose Medical Center.
Ash Street Apartments consists of one hundred and twelve affordable workforce housing units in a five (5) story, wood framed over podium, and elevator served building. Due to the family and workforce orientation of the project, 12 three-bedroom units have been provided in addition to 86 one-bedroom units and 14 two-bedroom units between 30% AMI and 60% AMI income levels. Unit amenities include a central HVAC system (gas fired forced air heating and cooling system). Additionally, each unit has a full kitchen with dishwasher, range, refrigerator, disposal, storage closet, coat closet, air conditioning, in-unit washers and dryers and cable and internet wiring.
The urban infill location provides the project with a neighborhood feel as the surrounding established properties are primarily for-rent or owner occupied residences. Additionally, each unit features individual patios further accentuating the neighborhood feel. Building amenities include a large community room with kitchenette and entertainment center and a garden deck on the first floor for the use of the residents. The building has been constructed to comply with “Green Communities” criteria.
